At home face masks: Your kitchen holds the key!

Masks at home can be fun!

A face mask can rejuvenate and replenish your skin, but some will leave your wallet feeling depleted. Who knew a simple trip to the grocery store (or your well-stocked pantry) could supply you with all you’ll need for hydrated & smooth skin? Here’s a list of the best recipes for smooth skin, all made of ingredients that are probably sitting in your refrigerator as we speak.

For oily or acne-prone skin:

Banana & Honey mask

Ingredients:

1 banana, preferably ripe (you can keep ripe bananas in the freezer. Let it thaw before using)

1 tbsp honey

An orange or a lemon

Preparation:

Apply to face for 15 minutes before rinsing with a cool washcloth or a steaming warm washcloth. This is the same preparation for all masks.

For dry skin:

Milk Mask

Ingredients:

1 tsp powdered milk

1 tbsp runny honey

1 tsp aloe vera gel

2 drops essential oil (lavender is soothing)

For combination skin:

Rose Mask

Ingredients:

2 tbsps rosewater

1 tbsp natural yogurt, room temperature (not lowfat or non-fat)

1 tbsp runny honey (to get honey runny, you can warm it in a microwave for a few seconds).

For sensitive skin:

Yogurt Mask

Ingredients:

1 cup natural yogurt (just-out-of-the-fridge cold)

½ cup oatmeal (basic oatmeal)

For “normal” skin:

Egg White Mask

Ingredients:

2 egg whites, separated from the yolk and placed in a bowl

2 tablespoons of plain yogurt (recommended: Greek yogurt)
